 Job Exchange: Itinerant Instructor for the Blind/Visually Impaired - UTAH

Schools for the Deaf and the Blind - Ogden & Weber County, UT



Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (required) or Master's degree (preferred) in Special Education; possession of, or eligibility for, a State of Utah Teaching License with a Visual Impairments endorsement.  There are moderate physical requirements, as assisting students with disabilities is an essential function of this position.  Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.  Preference will be given to blind/visually impaired candidates.  Successful completion of criminal background check is required for this position.

 

Duties: Provides direct, indirect, and collaborative services to blind/visually impaired students in the Ogden City School District.  Plans learning experiences utilizing school curricula, provides materials, accommodations, modifications, and resources that allow students to access their respective curriculums.  Prepares lesson plans, collects and maintains progress monitoring data, provides IEP goals and objectives; ascertains learning needs of students in areas of curricula and the Expanded Core Curriculum; establishes evaluation techniques for assessment of progress; provides Braille instruction; establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and attitude needed to provide an orderly, productive learning environment; evaluates needs for low vision students as well as students with multiple disabilities; improves professional competence through participation in staff development activities and other professional growth activities; performs other duties as assigned.

 

Salary and Benefits: Salary based on Teacher Salary Schedule commensurate with education and experience.  This position is eligible for full benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, 1.5% employer contribution to 401(k), personal and sick leave, pension, and other valuable benefits.  The State requires employees to receive their pay through Direct Deposit or EPPICard.
