  • Journalism, or related field; degree in Special Education, Blindness/Visual Impairment, Orientation and Mobility, and/or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in grant writing and reporting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the field of blindness and visual impairment is required; Knowledge of Spanish a plus.
  • Three (3) years of experience providing or managing education or training services for children or adults with visual impairments/blindness/deafblindness/multiple disabilities.
  • Must be knowledgeable in using analytics for technical report writing and grant/program-progress reporting.
  • Must have experience presenting at conferences.
  • Strong communication skills required, verbal and written; should be comfortable asking questions, discussing options, making suggestions, and diplomatically communicate with a variety of personalities.
  • Possess strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Must possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Required knowledge of video conferencing programs (Zoom, Microsoft Office Teams).
  • Working or excellent knowledge of MS Office suite including

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of the APH ConnectCenter, the Digital Content Manager assists with acquiring, creating, and delivering useful and accurate informational content that is aligned with APH’s mission. The websites that make up the APH ConnectCenter are: FamilyConnect, VisionAware, CareerConnect, and the educational site BrailleBug. Together these sites are the largest body of information about blindness and visual impairment on the internet in the U.S. The content consists of critical information for people of all ages who are visually impaired or blind including an array of tools for early childhood, education, work, and daily living. It includes the websites and social media, email, and other present and future digital platforms. The APH ConnectCenter supports APH’s mission: Empowering people who are blind or visually impaired by providing accessible and innovative products, materials and services for lifelong success.

Focusing primarily on the APH FamilyConnect website and its associated programs, this new position will expand the capabilities of ConnectCenter, VisionAware, APH CareerConnect, and BrailleBug by increasing useful content and engagement with consumers, families, and professionals.

APH FamilyConnect ( is a service offered by the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) to give parents and other family members of children who are visually impaired, and professionals who work with them, a supportive place for sharing and finding resources on raising their children from birth to adulthood.

This is a remote position, relocation to Louisville, KY is not required.


  • Helps develop and curate APH’s digital content by working with teams of writers, consultants, and in-house staff to grow content, audience, and engagement.
  • Primarily responsible for the content, audience engagement, and impact measures included in the APH FamilyConnect websites and associated programs.
  • Conduct outreach and manage engagement with organizational partners and advisors to support the APH ConnectCenter programs.
  • Assists in scheduling and managing the acquisition and creation of content that is useful, engaging, accurate, and shareable. Content may include blog posts, articles, email blasts, video scripts, etc.
  • Collaborates with APH staff to share information about APH products and services to promote awareness and provide connections to opportunities for purchase of products.
  • Assists with securing content and appropriate approvals.
  • In conjunction with APH staff, conduct outreach and assist with cultivation of organizational partners and advisors to support the APH ConnectCenter programs.
  • Assist in the development and sharing of a calendar of planned events relevant to the constituencies served by the APH ConnectCenter. Assists in developing targeted newsletter and email content, adhering to applicable laws, industry policies, and best practices.
  • Supports current and future volunteer programs for the websites, including scheduling and participating in meetings and assists in tracking volunteer metrics.
  • Assist the team in using analytics to inform editorial and strategic decisions and create accountability for results. Aids in developing surveys or other strategies to determine user needs.
  • Works with the APH ConnectCenter management to supply information and reporting for grants and sponsorships to sustain programs.
