Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate will possess of eligibility of:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Special Education.
  • State of Utah Teaching License with a Visually Impaired endorsement (or be willing to complete within 3 years of hire).
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Job Description

As an Expanded Core Curriculum Educator you will:

  • Teaches expanded core curriculum subject matter, correlated with other appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops lesson plans, adapts curriculum to meet individual student needs in areas of the expanded core, and utilizes effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction.
  • Understands and uses computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction
  • Maintains classroom organization and discipline.
  • Establishes and maintains standard of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning
  • Devises and utilizes techniques which accurately measure students’ progress.
  • Evaluates student academic and personal growth, keeping appropriate records, and prepares progress
  • Communicates and cooperates with other professional staff in academic, functional and personal growth
  • Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
  • Conforms to school policies, including attendance, absences, and evaluations.
  • Improves professional competence through participation in staff development activities and other professional growth activities.
  • This position is based out of Ogden and travel to all USDB campuses is required.
