Qualifications

Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant

  • Current MI teacher certification with Visual Impairment (SK) endorsement
  • MA in Special Education
  • Minimum of 3 yrs. teaching experience, 2 yrs. of which are in Special Education

Orientation & Mobility Specialist

  • MA in Orientation & Mobility from AER approved university or college.
  • Orientation & Mobility Specialist Certificate (COMS) from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP).

Job Description

Oakland Schools is seeking two individuals to fill the following long term Special Education substitute assignments through EDUStaff (third party administrator):

Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant (assignment ASAP – May 17, 2019)

Working 3 days per week based on students’ schedule and substitute’s availability. Support students in the Rochester, MI area by providing direct instruction, consulting with LEA staff, monitoring student progress, and developing/ordering materials and equipment.

Orientation & Mobility Specialist (assignment March 18 – June 21, 2019)

Working 2 days per week based on students’ schedule and substitute’s availability. Support students in the Clarkston, Rochester, and Troy, MI areas by providing direct instruction, consulting with LEA staff, monitoring student progress, and developing/ ordering materials and equipment.
