Must have a Bachelors or Masters in Vision Impairments or endorsement in visual impairments from an approved college program and/or COMS by ACVREP

Job Description

  • Adhere to pertinent laws, regulations, and policies as they relate to the assignment.
  • Direct (Service Provider) services as governed by student’s Individualized Education Plans (I.E.P’s) (this can be face to face, a virtual platform or a hybrid of the two)
  • Assess students using appropriate instruments of measurement
  • Ensure requests for appropriate materials, technology, equipment are made in writing to meet the needs of each student
  • Write, revise and update I.E.P.’s and provide progress towards goals in accordance with division policies and procedures but not to act as sole case manager for any student (local division to appoint in-school case manager)
  • Maintain up to date and accurate documentation of progress on each student
  • Establish and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with educational staff, parents, students, and community members and function as an effective member of the educational team
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate behavior that is conducive to a professional setting
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure that appropriate equipment and technology are functional and available to support the needs of the student
  • Maintain effective communication with all key members of the educational team in order to support the communication needs of the student
  • Attend meetings as requested to include but not limited to child study, IEP meetings, triennial reviews, etc.
  • Submission of accurate service logs and timesheet, providing documentation of services related to assignment
  • Obtain/Maintain credentials in accordance with state regulations and provide verification of credentials upon request
  • Work related commute, to and from services site(s)
