Qualifications

  • BS or BA in special education, human services or similar field required. Master’s degree preferred; Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (“TVI”), or related field
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a direct client service role in a Human Services
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, specifically with visually impaired students strongly
  • Ability to work and interact with a diverse
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team
  • Flexibility in working with families and meeting their scheduling
  • Ability to travel throughout the service area in Ohio, Northern KY, and Indiana (11 counties).

Job Description

CABVI (Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired) is currently seeking an experienced, capable, and highly motivated Youth Services Vision Specialist (Part-time/20-29 hours a week) to join our team! This position will provide individualized and support services for students with visual impairments and their families. Service areas include those identified in the Expanded Core Curriculum for Students with Vision Impairments and the Pre-Employment and Transition Services through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). Specific areas of service will depend on the experience and credentials of the employee. This position will also aid in implementing group and summer programming for students and their families.

The principal responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assist in planning and Implementation of peer opportunities for children and families.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of camps and summer programming for students.
  • Provide individual and group assessment and instruction in skill areas included in the Expanded Core Curriculum in the school, community and agency setting.
  • Prov de individual and group Pre-Employment Transition Services (00D program).
  • Collaborate with area Teachers of the Visually Impaired, COMS and other professionals providing services to students with visual impairments.
  • Provide support and advocacy to families of students with visual impairments; attend IEP and school team meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records for client services and completes administrative needs of CABVI within required timelines.
  • Initiates and actively participates in professional activities to meet program and agency needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
