Here you will find information on our Who We Are/Benefits and Past Discussions.
WHO WE ARE
Our members are dedicated individuals of diverse backgrounds, with a broad matrix of knowledge, skills, abilities, and strong interests in aging and vision loss.
BENEFITS
Division membership provides an opportunity to join other members in education and advocacy efforts on behalf of older individuals who are blind and are challenging aging in our society. We achieve this through connecting our members through our email listserv and Watercooler Discussions. The listserv allows us to quickly share and seek information and discuss important topics.
Initiated in 2015, our division holds monthly telephone conference calls called Watercooler Discussions. Generally held the third Wednesday of every month at 1 PM Eastern, these discussions cover a variety of topics from technology, health, community resources and advocacy. In 2019 we plan on having one session provide CEUs for ACVREP on Parkinson’s Disease. Visit our Past Watercoolers page for links to recordings of previous discussions.
We hope that they are of some benefit to you and that you will consider membership in our division. For more information, you can contact any of our board members from the Leadership page.
Each month the Division on Aging hosts a “Watercooler Discussion” on a topic that affects seniors with vision loss. Topics range from technology, dealing with specific conditions such as dementia or Parkinsons, to daily life activities. Most of our calls have been recorded, and can be accessed for listening or direct download on Dropbox. We hope you find this information of some benefit and that you consider joining us on one of our future calls.
